Russian Sunset

Off to an early start after a delicious dumpling breakfast, we headed in the Moerdaoga National Forest Park. Along the way we learned about orimosa, or horse-eye beans, superstitions surrounding the Longevity Tree and the Dear Lane, and saw scenery strikingly similar to many place in the Canadian Shield.

Of course along the road to the next stop Jess couldn't resist climbing every time the van stopped.

Unless we said no...

The next stop was a gentle raft ride down the Jilau River. Pretty scenery, nobody got wet - only a little bit of excitement when we had to push our rafts over a not completely submerged log.

Then finally our arrival in Shiweixiang, a village along the Russian border. Another sumptuous meal, this time a mix of Chinese and Russian dishes. Along with a little bit of poking into people's backyard gardens.

Then off to the village square to watch the sun set over Russia.
